Vintage 1964 Gretsch 6118 Anniversary Electric Guitar
WOW…This is destined to go either to a museum or into a top end collection. This is a beautiful Gretsch 6118 that we are selling on behalf of the original owner who was given the guitar brand new in the sixties when she was a student. It has only had one owner and the successful bidder with be the next. It is 100% original and un-messed with in any way. As you can see, it comes with all of the original accessories including the warranty card. The serial number is 75376, indicating 1964.
I am going to be somewhat windy here because I want you to know exactly what you are bidding on. The frets are immaculate, no wearing in the finish, and the hardware is still shining. We have not touched it with a tool but simply checked the electronics. Everything works perfect as you should expect with the exception of a slight scratchy sound in one of the pots.
Cosmetically, it is a sight to behold. There is a small area of gold paint missing on one of the pick-ups and there is a small nick on the very bottom of the body (pictured). There are some light scratches on the back and on the pick-guard but nothing that distracts. Overall, it is so clean for its age that it is shocking and there can’t be a better one out there. The neck is straight with no twist, but I’m not going to go on here. If you end up owning this, it needs to go to your luthier for a complete cleaning and set-up and you will have one of the best examples existing of this guitar. The case is perfect and the original, all latches and locks working.
This guitar is in better condition than most of the re-issues that you can find on here or anywhere for that matter. This is a true time capsule and centerpiece that needs a new home.
